The SMS on board — offline, searchable, with forms
The complete Safety Management System on board, as a desktop app that works fully offline. One search box across every chapter, with the chapter and page number on each result — even mid-river without coverage. No more leafing through a binder to find a single paragraph.
Every form the SMS refers to is digital: over fifty appendices as schema-driven forms with required fields, declarations and crew sign-off. What comes out at the end is a clean PDF in the operator's own layout — not a scan of a filled-in sheet. The ship profile pre-fills the standing data; measurements, checks and signatures deliberately stay manual.
Filled-in forms stay local on the machine, per user; nothing goes to a cloud. The dashboard shows per chapter what has been filled in and what is still open — audit-ready, without anyone ashore having to look over a shoulder. BargeDocs is set up per operator around their own approved SMS.

Audit-ready dashboard and crew list
July 2026The dashboard opens on the state of play per chapter: what has been filled in, what is still open, and which forms are due for their periodic review. The tiles are clickable, there is a crew tab, and search results are ranked by relevance instead of by document order.
-
Declaration and SMS passage inside the form itself
July 2026Forms show the declaration before sign-off, with a direct link to the chapter or appendix it rests on. Whoever signs has seen the text — without having to leaf through anything alongside it.
-
Over fifty appendices digitised
July 2026The form set has grown to over fifty appendices, each with an explicit automation boundary: standing ship and profile data is pre-filled, while measurements, checks, declarations and signatures stay manual.

Installation and updates on board
July 2026BargeDocs runs as an installable app on Windows and Linux and fetches updates by itself as soon as there is a connection. The rest of the time everything keeps working offline: the SMS, the forms and the stored PDFs live locally on the vessel.
For operators who want their approved SMS on board without the paper binder, and for skippers who want the answer in ten seconds instead of ten minutes of page-turning.
